Favorite quotes recently

 Hey team,

As you know I've been reading more on psychology recently. I have focused more on eastern themes of understanding but recently I have been also interested in Carl G Jung, a classic swiss psychologist from late 1800's and early 1900s. A lovely man with fascinating insight inspired by many concepts from the east along with others (of course). Now I can read all I want on these messages of knowledge and understanding but what is any of that without practice and true understanding of the concepts? I would like to share a collection of quotes I have written down recently that come from my own inner understanding of the concepts along with words written by others that I felt were very true and powerful to me.

"Low self worth manifests as needing external validation and obliviousness"

"When  feelings of inferiority arise we devalue others"

"Narcissistic people spend a majority of their time thinking about how they are perceived"

"Manipulative people cope with hard feelings of shame by outsourcing it to the people close to them"

  • These quotes help me understand the unwholesome behavior of those who are unwell, recognizing the true nature of their actions with a light of compassion and understanding.

"Ignorance, egoism, attachment, hatred and clinging to bodily life are the 5 obstacles"

"Our bodies are always changing but regard ours as 'self'"

  •     These quotes come from a translated copy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Well said my friend.

"Seeing different parts of you and understanding that they are all you. You are all of them and that is inter-being. You are never a mere "part" of yourself. You are the you 10 years ago as you are the you 5 years from now as you are the you now. You are all of you, all of you is you. Never a mere just or representation or image of what you may believe you are. "

  • I wrote this quote down as a reflection of my understanding of individual and collective aspects of self and inter-being after reading "understanding our mind".

"Understanding the limited capacity of words, though not without power"

  • This quote is important to remember that nothing can ever do someone's subjective experience and observations of reality. You may think a flower, a tree, a person or anything to be "beautiful ", but does the word "beautiful " encapsulate all that is the object in question? Absolutely not, for we would have to see it ourselves and feel the beauty for ourselves.

"How can I compare myself to others, assigning value and rank, if, like them, am a unique individual shaped by unique genes and experiences, (and perhaps more) separate from the life of anyone else. And what would this value represent? Abstract and subjective interpretations of individual experiences, accomplishments and failures? How can value and subsequent rank encapsulate all that is an individual ?"

  • Well said JT.
"I am the all the virtues I embody, for if no one existed the virtue could not be embodied, its true existence could not be. I can't exist without my virtues for how am I to be defined and acknowledged if not for virtues"

  • Straight from the dome, the manifested seed of all that has watered and nurtured my inner wisdom.

"All 90's music is about 'smackin-hoes'"

  • This comes from the owner of Java J, Karen, in reference to the Salt N Pepper radio I was playing.
